As I look back on 2024, it’s been a year filled with highs and lows, challenges, and plenty of opportunities to learn. The ups were euphoric, as they always are in performance marketing. The lows? Humbling, grounding, and full of lessons that have sharpened my perspective moving forward. Through it all, I’ve come away with one undeniable truth: the power of focus is everything.
Lessons Learned: Time is the Ultimate Currency
One of my biggest takeaways this year came from reviewing my Fireflies.ai end-of-year meeting stats (see the attached image). I attended a staggering 1,351 meetings, spending 118,804 minutes in them. While I’m grateful for the insights and connections these conversations brought, I couldn’t ignore the reality—many didn’t translate to direct growth for the business.
This realization reinforced something a mentor told me over 25 years ago: “Imagine gold coins falling from the sky, and you only have two small cups to catch them. The key is positioning your cups wisely.” Moving into 2025, I will be strict about how I spend my time. Meetings must align with clear outcomes, and opportunities must directly contribute to bottom-line growth.
Strength in Reflection
2024 also revealed who I could truly rely on and highlighted the relationships that added value to my life, personally and professionally. It’s a hard truth, but in business, not everyone deserves your time. By filtering out the noise, I’m entering 2025 with a renewed focus, clarity, and appreciation for the relationships that matter most.
Grateful for the Blessings
Amidst the grind, I am deeply grateful for my amazing family—my four thriving kids, a partner who loves and supports me unconditionally, and a few incredible friends who’ve always been in my corner. Thank you for being my rock through it all.
On the personal front, I’m feeling stronger than ever. Three weeks ago, I recommitted to daily workouts and have embraced a healthier, more disciplined lifestyle. I’m also mindful of spending more focused quality time with my kids and partner—being present in the moment and avoiding distractions like my phone. It’s a small change with massive rewards.
Looking Ahead: 2025 with Laser Focus
After 28+ years in the performance marketing space, one thing remains constant: laser focus is the foundation of success. I’m starting 2025 with renewed energy, a clear vision, and a commitment to make it a phenomenal year. No wasted meetings, no distractions—just purposeful action toward meaningful goals.
